Trisakti University’s Doctoral Dissertation Offers a Sharia Stock Investment Model Based on the ICT Development Index

Jakarta – The development of information and communication technology (ICT) is increasingly influencing the dynamics of the capital market, including sharia investment instruments. Responding to this challenge, Nurwijayadi Wiratmo presented the results of his doctoral research at the Closed Dissertation Defense of the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, entitled “Modeling Strategy for Sharia Stock Investment of Telecommunication and Technology Company Issuers on the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index Influenced by the ICT Development Index Variable.”
The dissertation defense will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM WIB, in the Islamic Economics and Finance (IEF) concentration. This research offers a new perspective on the relationship between digital technology developments and investment strategies in sharia-compliant stocks in the telecommunications and technology sectors.
The session was led by Prof. Dr. Tatik Mariyanti, M.Si as Chair of the Session. The advisory team consisted of Prof. Dr. Yolanda Masnita Siagian, CIRR, CMA, CPM as Promoter, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA and Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya, S.Si., M.Si as Co-Promoters. Also present as examiners were Dr. Nirdukita Ratnawati, ME and AA Hubur, Lc., M.Ag., Ph.D who provided academic input on the research results.
In his dissertation, Nurwijayadi Wiratmo developed an investment strategy model focused on telecommunications and technology sector issuers included in the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI). This research examines how the ICT Development Index (IDI), as an indicator of the level of development of information and communication technology, can influence the investment prospects of sharia stocks, thereby providing a basis for more measured and long-term investment decisions.
This study is highly relevant amidst the rapid digital transformation and growing investor interest in Islamic financial instruments. By integrating technological development indicators into investment modeling, this research is expected to produce strategies that are more adaptive to changes in the digital economy while improving the quality of investment analysis in technology-based sectors.
During the hearing, the examiners provided various input on strengthening the analytical model, validating research variables, and the implications of the research results for the development of the Islamic capital market in Indonesia. The academic discussion demonstrated the importance of synergy between digital technology developments, Islamic economics, and investment science in facing future economic challenges.
The results of this study are expected to not only enrich the literature in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance, but also provide practical contributions for investors, investment managers, capital market regulators, and telecommunications and technology sector companies in formulating more effective, data-based, and sharia-compliant investment strategies.
Through this dissertation defense, the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, has once again demonstrated its commitment to producing innovative research that is relevant to global technological developments and capable of making a real contribution to the development of economics, Islamic finance, and the development of Indonesia’s digital economy.
